Western Vancouver Island's Deep Sea Port

Port Alberni is located at the terminus of the Alberni Inlet, home to one of the finest deep sea inland harbours in North America.

With a length of 40 kilometres and an average width of 1.5 kilometres, the Inlet can easily handle Panamax size vessels. The western end of the inlet widens at Barkley Sound, with the communities of Ucluelet and Tofino to its north and Bamfield to its south.

The waters are generally calm, free from navigational obstacles, free of ice year round, and provide a direct shipping route to the Pacific Rim and international markets.
